Filoxenia Centre for Intercultural Exchange Programmes – Greece

Filoxenia is a non-profit NGO established in 1995. It runs a Youth Information Centre in the village of Kryoneri – Korinthias (North Peloponnese – 120 km West from Athens).

AIMS & ACTIVITIES

It informs and counsels young people, notably young farmers in the mountainous region of Peloponnese, on training andwork issues.

It organises youth events, cultural and outdoor activities, operates seminars and other youth exchange activities with foreign countries.

It is targeting young adults and local community living in geographically isolated and remote areas.

It provides European educational and mobility programmes such as YOUTH IN ACTION, LEONARDO Da VINCI

It supports other youth associations and initiatives, participates as a member in the Youth County Council of  Corinthia and in the Corinthian Youth Centers Network.

NETWORKING

FILOXENIA is partner in European Youth Networks, like CREATIVE COOPERATIONS (EVS Flagship Network) and LABORATORIUM (European Network for Employment in the 3rd Sector).

It co-ordinate the European Network for environmental intervention Ecocitizens.eu .

SPORTS RELATED ACTIVITIES

For the outdoor and sports projecst, we cooperate with the parents’ associations of the schools of Kryoneri, the cultural association of Kryoneri, the municipality of Kiato, the social service of the municipality of Corinth, the centre for people with special needs of Lechaio.

We wish to bring the stakeholders mentionned in the previous paragraph, closer to sports and outdoor activities as a way to dynamise their actions, include more people, and foster social cohesion. In this way, we invite educators and social workers with which we co-operate in European meetings in order to broaden their horizons, exchange on metholodogies, and learn new types of activities.
